You see Mikey in the gym and hear about his alleged wife and kids… but… who are we, exactly?
Mikey (as I *hate* to call my 40-something-year-old husband out loud…) is Minnesota born-and-bred. He’s a Spring Lake Park grad and God forbid you get him talking about SLP football, their arch nemesis Totino Grace, or any roads in/near Spring Lake Park. (He’ll try to out-road you because he lovingly but seriously calls himself ‘Rand McNally’…)
Away from the gym, you’ll find him finding any excuse to be outside. This includes time at the family cabins in the summer, hunting birds and deer in the fall, taking in our nephews’ high school football games at Blaine & SLP, tailgating and attending Gopher football games with my family, and lots of “yardwork” (especially if it involves something / anything he can use his backpack leaf blower for) so he can try to keep up with the impeccable lawns of our (mostly retired) neighbors.
Me? I am a born-and-raised North Dakotan (minus a 5 year stint in KC while my dad was a PI for the NCAA – but that’s a story for another happy hour). I grew up coming to Gopher football games because my dad is an M man (he was a fullback in the late 70s/early 80s) and has had tickets my whole life. With 3 younger siblings, including one who was entering Kindergarten as I was leaving for college, I opted for the big college experience close to home and enrolled at the U. And the rest is history–because I’ve basically never left the Twin Cities!
When I’m not working my day job in marketing for a global food security company, doing all the things behind the scenes for the gym, or chasing tiny humans, you can find me curled up watching HGTV, spending time with my fam, uber casually meeting up with gfs for a leisurely HH or dinner, or going to Gopher football or volleyball games!
Mike and I met almost 12 years ago through friends at a local gym that rhymes with “barrels” and after repeated attempts to avoid his date invitations, he eventually wore me down… and here we are 11 years, 2 houses, 2 dogs, 2 babies, and 1 gym later!
Speaking of the bébés…Lastly, and MOSTLY, we are parents to Leo and Henry, who keep us on our toes and working hard when we’re not working our other job(s)! They are stinkers, but total loves, and they bring as much joy to our lives as they do exhaustion! They also bring toys and snacks to the gym when they accompany us as our “helpers” so should you find crackers, balls, sharks or dinosaurs when you’re taking your equipment out… you know who to blame!
We are so glad to be here steering Fitaholic into the future and look forward to getting to know more about one another as our ownership journey unfolds!
